However, he's kind enough to let you know in precise detail that the generator beyond the river is where he harnesses his power, but you'll never stop him anyway because you don't have the gas can, key and cable to get the generator running.No kidding, that's what he says in his note.I spent about 30 minutes ambling around a hideously ugly forest that mostly consists of dirt and a sparse few PS1-era trees, picking up giant battery packages to keep my flashlight running and avoiding land mines seemingly drawn in MS Paint before I decided I had enough of this game. If you tried Nyctophobia for free you'd probably be angry at the time wasted in downloading and playing it, never mind spending a fiver for this dubious privilege.It should also be noted that this evil spirit of the forest and darkness wrote his sinister warning message on spiral bound notebook paper. Perhaps "The Keeper" is short for "The Trapper Keeper.". While it definitely has its flaws, the drastic rate of battery depletion being one of the biggest, this game is still worth playing. The atmosphere is bleak and oppressive, making you really feel alone and helpless. It gets tense at times and offers up some good scares.. I knew from the trailer that the graphics weren't exactly next gen but this is really bad. It looks like a game for windows 95. I could look past that if it had good atmosphere or gameplay or was actually scary. So far none of these are the case. I've only played the game a little bit but I have a pretty good idea of the game's overall potential. I'll update my review if the game gets better but I dont' think i'll be able to tolerate too much more of this.. your text here...the fact that I paid money for this is a real bummer. the entire time it feels like the main character is just trudging along out of pure disdain for being in this game. almost more than I do for playing it through. The character cntrols like a tank with the armor of paper airplane. There are some spots that will kill you instantly or easily, making you start all over from the begining. this is a terrible way to make the game "longer" but I guess it worked. The "needing more batteries shtick is tired as hell. could you imagine having a flashlight that lasted for 5 minutes before you needed new batteries? it is just a dumb game mechanic. The story of this atrocity is almost none existent. some guy made things dark. . . dunno how. . . dunno why. . . but. . . ya, the main bad was thwarted by flipping the "on\/off" switch on a telephone pole. of course, you have to go through a black hole to get to . . . somewhere. . . where the main bad is. . . . and. . . well. . . he is VERY black. . . like. . . the color though. the whole thing just looks feels and tastes awful.. Personally I found the game to be quite enjoyable. It's an indie game, but I thought the graphics were nice looking in game. It scared me a few times and I thought the atmosphere was really immersive. It's a good game for the price. And the achieveements are a challenge which is something I appreciate. I say give it a go.. The graphics aren't like amazing or anything but it's definitley fun. Like it's got a spooky feel to it. I really felt like I was freaking out on that train station level. The music is good and I like the leave crunching sounds. I played it with my friend and she thought it was cool too but it was kinda hard which was annoying. There's probably scarier games but this was at least fun and cool to explore.. A little boring. I have not made it all the way through the game yet. How in gods name is this game $5.00........I have played free to play games that are 10 times better. Is there something more harsh then just a simple No(Do Not recommend) that I can click.$5.00???!!!........That's a crime!......Literally!. Really into this one. Legitimately suspenseful, with spooky environments reminiscent of Slender. Simple concept but challenging, rewards a good play through. Highly recommended!. Uninstall button works just fine!
